  Platform Racing 4
Posted by: Camer the Dragon - 27th June 2025, 1:06 PM - Forum: Jiggmin Games - Replies (9)

Platform Racing 4 has had pretty decent progress on the Github page (thanks to both Jiggmin and contributors). Most of the discussion has been in the Discord channel, but there should probably be a proper thread here too to post about changes and such.

https://github.com/jacob-grahn/platform-racing-4

I'll try to post stuff here decently often and up-to-date

(For now I've just set the prefix to Platform Racing 1 because there isn't a Platform Racing 4 prefix)

  LEFT HAND PSYCHOLOGY ??
Posted by: Different - 26th June 2025, 3:30 PM - Forum: Game Day - Replies (9)

In a world designed to benefit right-handed people, left-handed people are expected to adapt to challenges where they’re required to utilize their right hand. Since left-handers make up an “estimated 11% of the population”, the majority of us would assume that you’re right-handed because using the right hand is more natural to us. How often do we really need to use our left hand to perform specific tasks? Think about this for a moment because it’s just really awkward using the left hand to write, play the guitar, and use scissors.

Some of the most common things that the world has designed for right-handed people (that left-handers learn to adapt to), specifically are as follows:
  • Scissors
  • Can openers
  • Power tools
  • Tape measures
  • Pencil sharpeners
  • Musical instruments
  • Sporting equipment
  • Desktop mouse

Unfortunately, lefties tend to struggle when it comes to using these tools, so they learn to adapt very quickly to get certain jobs done. All your life, you’ve been taught to utilize your right hand to perform about 85% of your daily tasks because your brain naturally gravitates towards the right hand to get jobs done. But that left hand (your non-dominant hand) can be quite tricky and complexed because you’re back to square one attempting to learn how to use it properly.

When it comes to sports, you might consider - shooting, striking, throwing, pitching, swinging, catching, dunking, and hitting any type of sports ball with your left hand to be extremely awkward and difficult to manage. On the other hand, when you’re normally dealing with a lefty in sports, they normally tend to have the element of surprise gaining an advantage over you. This is because their play style may seem a little bit unsettling and unorthodox to you because you’ve been taught to deal with right-handed players.

An ambidextrous player is a more dangerous one because they can decide to switch hands during any given time making it difficult for their opponents to read them. Even though “Only about 1% of the world’s population is ambidextrous”, you still need to learn how to read these guys because depending on the sport you’re playing (like boxing or Ju Jitsu), you’re going to have a tough time trying to defeat them. This is because of their ability to use both their hands interchangeably with different tactics.

Sit down and have a beer with me or something. I need to get something off my chest that I’ve wanted to say to you guys for a long time now. I tried to be nice, but I can’t take it anymore.

Ok, what the hell happened to you guys?? No one is active on JV as much as they used to be. Has the energy died down nowadays, or do you guys just don’t give a damn anymore? I’ve noticed that a lot of you haven’t posted a thread in years; now you’ve just reduced yourselves to being lurkers. I don’t know about you all, but I would get sick to death of lurking around and not posting or making threads.

This site would be a lot more popular if people grew comfortable expressing themselves and opening up more (publicly) about what’s happening in their lives. You don’t have to disclose any personal details if you don’t want to. Just let me know how you all are doing. When you all introduce yourselves in the welcome gates, no one really cares for some strange reason. Most admins don’t give a damn to go out of their way to post anything interesting because they don’t give a shit, either.

Accid Forums had all the magic - They made you believe that they were the jack of all trades, the daily news, and the source of a “MUST READ”, thread. I’d say after 2022, you guys have really slowed down and reduced yourselves to lurkers. You don’t see anything wrong with it because you perceive it as normal. Make a thread, post something interesting, tell me what’s going on in your life, do something! Why post on these dumbass threads like “a thread where you can only say same”, I don’t get it?

This has nothing to do with my threads; I’m just wondering why you guys don’t give a shit anymore in general. It’s like a vampire sucked the life out of you and now you guys are just spreading cog webs around this place. Places like Quora and Reddit would kick our asses if we competed against them. So tell me… what is going on with you guys, seriously? Are you depressed or something?

  MATH
Posted by: Different - 5th June 2025, 6:18 PM - Forum: Discussion Hall - Replies (2)

Math is probably one of the most intimidating subjects to learn on the higher end of the learning spectrum. You have multiple different ways to solve a math problem, but then your brain is tangled up in (what we think to be) an unbreakable web where solutions aren’t flowing in our direction. Tests, quizzes, exams, and SATS planted fear and anxiety in our hearts because the complexity of the equations forced us to think beyond our intelligence level.

Things like calculus, statistics, linear algebra, topology, and discrete mathematics makes you question whether you have dyscalculia or a learning disability in general. Matrices, vectors, accumulations, data analysis, etc. The average person will generally not accomplish a passing grade with any of these problems/subjects. Everyone else finished and aced their exams… what the hell happened to you? You’re the last one to finish and because you’ve failed, you’ve been demoted to a special needs program where you need “extended time”.

You and math got into the octagon and exchanged blows to see who was the better opponent. In this case, since you’re dealing with a difficult math like calculus, Mike Tyson is the math problem. But because of your inability to understand how to beat him, you squandered an abundance of time figuring out what to do first. So unfortunately math (Mike Tyson) struck you with a few quick jabs, some surprise left and right hooks, and a devastating gut punch. It’s reality telling you that you’re not ready for this fight yet.

I think that it truly takes a gifted, mathematician who’s meticulous and grounded with numbers to succeed in higher levels of mathematics like these. Those subjects are just a subset of subjects that makes you reconsider on taking another major in college or dropping out because unfortunately they’re requirements.

Will we ever use this stuff in the real world outside of college? Yes, but it depends on your occupation. If you’re a business owner, then you should at least acquire the ability to learn probability and statistics because you’re dealing with data, charts, and graphs; you gotta make informed decisions. But if your occupation/major has nothing to do with these advanced math subjects, then you won’t use them at all.

What are your thoughts on math, and what’s the most difficult math subject that you’ve ever taken? The source with the list is subjective which means that levels to this stuff can be viewed differently from various colleges and other people.

There are many videos, texts, games, and art that few people have ever seen.
This is what this thread is dedicated for, posting and showing these rarely seen media.

Why? Maybe because I'm weird. Or maybe because sometimes the weirdest things can be the most interesting.

Can also serve as a lesson in Survivorship Bias, showing what doesn't go viral.

Instructions

If you have any...
Post some rare or obscure media (Videos, Texts, Games, Songs, Ect.) Include as little or as much information as you'd like.
Otherwise feel free to reply to anyone.

I'll start:

la'au lo vliraitru li'u noi ci moi lo ve farvi

This is a video made for the Lojban community by a former(?) prominent user Gusni Kantu or Guskant.

Lojban is a revival of the Loglan language, a constructed language aimed at having a regular enough grammar enough that both humans and computers programs could easily parse and understand. Much like Esperanto, it also aims at being somewhat "culturally-neutral", taking elements from many major world languages. This is a video about Guskant explaining their amendments to their personal version of Lojban and their failed attempts to promote it to the Lojban community.

Right now, it has ~2000 views over 8 years, likely only viewed by members of the Lojban community. Has optional English captions. Has a banger of a song at [17:25] and many songs throughout the hour long video.

  ☠️ THE COMMENTS SECTION ☠️
Posted by: Different - 24th May 2025, 11:41 PM - Forum: Discussion Hall - Replies (5)

Guys, people can be mean as shit to one another. The comments section can be the most toxic, disparaging, and disgusting place on the internet. Sure, not everyone is rude. But then you also have to remember that there are tons of trolls, idiots, and bots who are programmed to hurt your feelings. It’s not a very friendly place with rainbows and unicorns all the time. When you post a thread, write a blog, or drop a video on YouTube… then just remember that the larger you grow, the more bullshit you’ll be tolerating from these parasites. The heavy load of these comments is inconceivable.

You’re a moderator, delete the bitter ass comments, sure. They’ll just make another account and come back to bite you in the ass again, just like the parasites they are. They just can’t let it go. They must make it their mission in life to trigger you so that you’ll lose your cool and give them some attention. All these people do is surf the internet starving for toxic arguments and attention.

People generally don’t give a shit about your feelings or anyone else’s. They just find the most hateful, impertinent things to say to you on the internet. Generally, they either want to get an argument started with you, or they’ll unleash some steam on you to make themselves feel better. They’re also envious of your accomplishments when they see you making a killing on YouTube. These people often turn out to be degenerate losers who don’t amount to anything in life. They just lurk around squandering their time picking random, virtual fights with someone.

You may have smart strategies to avoid dealing with these bitter trolls, but sooner or later they’ll always figure out a way to push your buttons. Reading these nasty comments will place you into a depressogenic state of mind. People have literally committed suicide because someone bullied them online with hateful and impertinent comments; it’s a war zone out there! How do you guys deal with trolls, parasites, idiots, and bots?

  ?️?? DINE OUT ???
Posted by: Different - 17th May 2025, 5:06 PM - Forum: Discussion Hall - Replies (6)

Tl;dr: Your friends have decided that it’s your turn to pay for everyone’s meals at a fancy restaurant. Check out the bill at the bottom of the page. How are you gonna pay for all that? Also, check out the mad flex that your friends threw up in your face before they invited you for the eighth time.

When’s the last time your friends have invited you to dinner at a fancy restaurant over the weekend? It sounds nice because the food is delicious, the restaurant is classy, and the decor is top tier. Even the waitresses are incredibly friendly and professional. Your friends tell you to show up in your best suit because it’s that kind of restaurant. You’ve never heard of it before, you don’t know what kind of food they serve, and you don’t know how expensive it is. Even if you’re working a corporate job and your employer has invited you to dinner with the rest of the employees, then you know what I’m talking about.

Keep in mind that you haven’t seen your friends since high school, and now you guys have been catching up for the past two months. So now the only problem is that your friends have just started a tradition where one different person pays for everyone’s meals each time they all go out. Excuse me??! Yup, you read me right. One different person is taking turns paying for everyone’s meals each time they all go out. Normally you guys have been going to an affordable restaurant and paying for your own meals. But now recently, things have changed and you were left wondering why your friends were treating you to these fancy and classy restaurants all of a sudden.

Since you guys have recently reconnected, they’ve told you what they do for a living, but no one’s ever told you how much money they make. Corporate jobs, big businesses, sales jobs, doctors, lawyers, etc. You’re obviously outclassed and pushed to the lower end of the spectrum compared to them. Even everyone’s suits, clothes, and cars are nicer than yours. So and so pulled up in a Rolls Royce, Bugatti Chiron, Aston Martin, etc.

So now considering the meals, it’s your turn to pay for everyone’s meals. But the prices are far too outrageous for you to handle. Your wallet is only $50. It’s tough because you love your friends and they’re like family to you. Now before we view this menu’s ridiculous prices, you should know that there are 8 of you guys.

Here’s a breakdown of the menu based on what everyone ordered:

?Steak: $200 pp (X5) = $1,000
?Beef Wellington: $120 pp (X3) = $360
?Chateau Palmer Wine: $2500 pp (X2) = $5,000
?Dominus 2012 Napa Valley: $375 pp (X2) = $750
?Pavillon Blanc White Wine: $850 pp (X2) = $1,700
?Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pauillac, 2010: $1,500 pp (X1) = $1,500
?Caviar: $250 pp (X7) = $1,750
?Rack of lamb: $500 pp (X3) = $1,500
?Tuscan Vegetable Soup: $60 pp (X4) = $240
?Lobster: $250 pp (X2) = $500
?Oysters (Dozen): $60 pp (X2) = $120
?Truffle Risotto: $150 pp (X3) = $450
?Duck Foie Gras: $125 pp (X3) = $375
?Salmon (Wild Caught): $300 pp (X2) = $600
?Shrimp Ceviche: $90 pp (X3) = $270
?Cheese and leek Soufflé: $50 pp (X1) = $50
?Lobster Macaroni and cheese casserole: $70 pp (X4) = $280
?Dark chocolate molten lava cake: $75 pp (X7) = $525
?Caramel Flan: $75 pp (X3) = $225
?Tomato Galette: $55 pp (X5) = $275

Total before tax and tips: $17,470.00

Sales Tax: 30% = 0.3 x 100

Tip: 25% = 0.25 x 100

Number of people: 8

Final price: $28,388.75

Bonus - Flex stats (what your friends paid each time you guys went out):

Look at these prices, man! Who the hell can afford to pay for all that stuff for 8 people, by themselves?! The cheapest thing on this menu is the Cheese and leek Soufflé! This is what you ordered because it’s all you have! That, and a glass of water. All the other stuff is what your friends ordered. Oh and btw, your friends make twice that amount every month. What are you gonna do, tell them that you don’t have the money? You’ll look bad. They’re under the impression that you’re rollin’ in the dough like that.

Everyone’s making smart ass comments about how you’re a broke boy/girl, why are we friends with this loser, who brought him/her along, what kind of man/woman are you, what a freeloader, $28k is cheap compared to what we’ve been paying for his/her sorry cheap ass, yeah you would order the cheapest thing on the menu, etc.

Guys, I don’t know what we’re going to do here. How do we solve this problem when everyone (including the waitress) is looking at you to pay the bill? Even the manager and the chefs have stopped what they’re doing to come to your table and wait for you to pay the bill. That last part is a little exaggerated, but it can happen. Anyways, how do we solve this issue?

  Working From Home vs Office
Posted by: Master Raiden - 9th May 2025, 9:47 PM - Forum: Discussion Hall - Replies (9)

Something that happened

I have a 9-5 office job and today, I had a meeting with my manager and the head of HR (scary, I know!)
The meeting was called because my team was asked by the CEO to work in the office 4 days a week (up from 1-2 days) and I was only in the office 3 days a week. Doesn't seem like a big deal. All I had to do was explain why and I could get back to work!

But I couldn't have been more mistaken.

After giving my reasons and briefly mentioning how I didn't agree with being forced to work in the office that often, the HR person went on the offensive! They labeled my disagreement as having a "bad attitude" and began lecturing me about how I shouldn't have such a bad attitude at my relatively young age. Then came the scolding. They told me it was a "serious offence" to disobey a directive from the CEO and that I could potentially get fired for my heinous crime. At one point, they asked me if I even wanted to work there, and that if I was unhappy with the arrangement, I should find another employer who suits me better.
Brilliant. I have heard something similar on Hotel Hell before, and this clip is how I would have loved to respond.

What an over-the-top reaction to what is basically a non-issue. All I did was work an extra day from home and they are acting like I lost the company millions of dollars. They even noted it down on my employee record. One strike down, two or three more and I will get fired for the crime of doing my work at a different location.

This got me pretty upset because I had genuine reasons to do what I did, but I didn't bother telling them because it seems like any more disagreements would make them even angrier. When I'm just a regular employee facing off against the head of HR who has decades of experience at making people follow orders, they can shut me down with their superior authority and power, so I'm quite helpless.
And that's precisely the reason why I am writing this, because I feel like I'm walking on eggshells at work now and I would probably get into a lot of trouble if I said the things I'm saying here.

Working from Home vs Office

Now the working from home vs working in the office debate is nothing new. People have been talking about it ever since Covid, and I'm surprised at how many people are still on the "working in the office" side. Honestly, I thought my current employer, who has been pretty pleasant to work for up until now, would be a bit smarter about this.

Call me crazy, but results are far more important than where I sit when I deliver them.
And that is because:
1. The area of the company I work in solely exists to make money
2. I was hired to make money
3. My KPIs measure how much money I make for the company

So the fact that they are taking working from home so seriously makes no sense.

What do you think? Would you fire an outstanding employee because they did their work from home?
Is office attendance more important than bringing value to the company?
