What is a trial moderator?

A trial moderator (commonly referred to mostly as "trial mod") is a special type of moderator between temporary moderator and permanent moderator.  Users in this group are promoted when the admins believe them to be trustworthy enough to be more than a temporary moderator, but are not sure if they can be trusted as a permanent moderator yet. Users in this group can discipline rule-breaking by warning, and ban for up to a day.
