Why on earth do postal services even leave packages outside of people's homes? Just makes it seem like they want the packages to get stolen lol.

Here packages are never left outside houses/apartments. If it doesn't fit in one of the "postboxes" nearby it gets stored at the post office to either be delivered in person or picked up if delivery wasn't possible.
