Obscure, Rare, and Lost Media
#1
There are many videos, texts, games, and art that few people have ever seen.
This is what this thread is dedicated for, posting and showing these rarely seen media.

Why? Maybe because I'm weird. Or maybe because sometimes the weirdest things can be the most interesting.

Can also serve as a lesson in Survivorship Bias, showing what doesn't go viral.

Instructions

If you have any...
Post some rare or obscure media (Videos, Texts, Games, Songs, Ect.) Include as little or as much information as you'd like.
Otherwise feel free to reply to anyone.

---

I'll start:

la'au lo vliraitru li'u noi ci moi lo ve farvi

This is a video made for the Lojban community by a former(?) prominent user Gusni Kantu or Guskant.

Lojban is a revival of the Loglan language, a constructed language aimed at having a regular enough grammar enough that both humans and computers programs could easily parse and understand. Much like Esperanto, it also aims at being somewhat "culturally-neutral", taking elements from many major world languages. This is a video about Guskant explaining their amendments to their personal version of Lojban and their failed attempts to promote it to the Lojban community.

Right now, it has ~2000 views over 8 years, likely only viewed by members of the Lojban community. Has optional English captions. Has a banger of a song at [17:25] and many songs throughout the hour long video.

One of my favorite synthwave tracks, and it hasn't cracked 2k views in the 4 years it's been released.

Conker 64, the game I been researching for a long time.

I also started researching HOP 2011 out of pure wonderment. I did find a couple of rare and Obscure stuff on it due to it being very underrated.

One of Hop changed scenes. I'm still randomly scared that the video this came from will get deleted. but I bet nobody is going to find it anyway. So here are images of them

here is a deleted scene I guess [Image: 3MQHJOk.png]

Yeah I wish I'd recorded it, it just got deleted randomly after 17 years (I know because I had it saved in a playlist and then it was just gone)
The most annoying thing is I don't even know what the URL was, so I can't even check wayback machine for info

Hey!

I LOVE obscure media and weird things!

One of my favourite things to do in all my hobbies (Music, art, video games) is to discover the most obscure, unconventional, insane things never thought possible. I noticed I was into that more than I guess one could say... the mainstream stuff? which there is plenty I like but, I lean more towards the WEirD far more :D

Like, for example - Did you know there is a PS1 game that has the most ''out-there'' concept for a skateboard game that has yet to be done again?

The name is Thrasher: Skate and Destroy and it was published by Rockstar Games and it's pretty crazy!

The game has:

  • Ragdoll physics. Yes! literally Ragdoll physics when you fall off the skateboard or hit something in an awkward manner
  • You can break your board and even bones! So you have to not only do tricks correctly, you can't mess up too many times, otherwise ''oops there goes my leg, I can't go as fast anymore''
  • The police can find you (as it is illegal skateboarding and sh** 😈) and, once they do, the game shifts into FIRST PERSON MODE from the perspective of the police men and gives you a small amount of time to run away to the exit of the level before they catch you. if they do, you instantly lose the game and all the points you were building up.

Like that is the shoot I'm talking about xD like woot???

Here are two videos of it! it does not show all of the crazy stuff on it but, it gives a pretty good idea of what it was going for. Pretty out there for a late 1999 PS1 game, honestly.

Gameplay

Video showing the FPS police mode

(WARNING! The audio is really bad! this was the only video I could find showcasing it)

Another thing that is pretty obscure is how this licensed, Winnie the Pooh game about Piglet, the most wholesome side character ever, has a game that was quite literally inspired by Resident Evil and Silent Hill and a track that sounds like this among it's whole OST... yes, this is real xD

And when it comes to lost media (which I also love!) I actually am in possession of 7 tracks from an incredible trance music producer from way back in 2009-2014 from Newgrounds that, for whatever reason, she quit making music and removed everything from her page/account.

It always boggles my mind when people do that... but thankfully, they all used to be free to download and a few years ago, I was able to recover an old hard drive containing a WHOLE bunch of stuff I thought I lost forever. One of those things were her music. Most of which were REALLY cool unfinished demos.

On Youtube, you can only find about three of her tracks and nowhere else! she has a whole bunch of other tracks that were also unfortunately lost to time. (maybe they can still be found on the WayBack machine??? i haven't tried that🤔)

I have been thinking of making Youtube videos about them, to re-release them, and just give all the credit to the original creator/composer but, no idea if I am legally allowed to so even if is ''lostwaves'' 😅

She went by the name of DJ BrixX and then later as Fierra. Here is one of the tracks you can find of her music on Youtube

(I got the much higher quality version of this upload!)

I'll see what else I can share on this thread later! 💙

This counts as lost media I guess..  It was a internal project at "R&H" that was only shown off a couple of times during films festivals the full short is 6 minutes and only about 1(or 2) is online that include the start and a bit of the end.

there is also a app(Somehow Idk) for it. that I assume is lost, it was like a dress up and dance game

Btw the bunny were originally designed to look like Jessica rabbit, but were redesigned because it didn't fit the rest of the other characters. A bit of the og version of this ad is in the video plus some test animations(I guess its test animation), a few storyboard and unfinished animation comparisons with the final animation fading in.

i MIGHT possibly have the URL for it still, although i doubt wayback machine will help. all we can look for now is the thumbnail of the video to prove it did exist

I'm generally quite interested in Lost Media and stuff and I watch vids on it decently often, I just don't particularly have much personal to me that could be found (most of what I'd consider in that category I made on my old laptops which I don't know where they'd even be at this point).
I don't think I could really help people much with finding stuff either, I only really started keeping most old stuff since the mid-to-late 2010s and it's mainly just my stuff, then again I'm not really in any places where people are looking for stuff so maybe it's a bit of a case where I should actively try/bother a bit more.
The main exception to me not having old stuff that's not my own is noob.txt from JV1, which I still have 3 versions from when Ringstaart gave them to me in 2014 after I asked for them because I thought they were too funny not to have lol

I have a 7" record split of Face to Face and Rise Against covering each of their songs (Rise Against Covering "Blind" and Face to Face covering "The Good Left Undone") that was released in 2011. This does not really fall under rare or lost, but possibly obscure (still relatively recent from release and 5,000 total presses). https://www.discogs.com/release/2900919-...ce-To-Face

The only *legal* physical way to listen to the Face to Face cover of "The Good Left Undone" is to purchase the record. With digital, the song is only on YouTube from private channels (i.e., no official release from the band and no release on a streaming service). Rise Against rereleased their cover of "Blind" on a B-Sides and rarities album, which is available for streaming and posted on their official channel, so it a lot more accessible and would not really be obscure.
