PR2 v168: Always Watching
This update contains some new features, as well as some minor bug fixes.
Changes/Additions
- Level creators can now bypass their own levels' requirements in the lobby. Passwords and minimum rank requirements be... darned. Thanks for the suggestion, @Camer the Dragon and @AlphaZ!
- SPECTATE MODE! Follow players across the map with ease. Thanks for the suggestion, @Camer the Dragon!
Fixes
- Artifact hints that contain special characters now show properly. Ah, double escapes. Thanks for the report, @Ashley766!
- The button that switches to the landscape menu back from the pen tool works again. Thanks for the report, @Ashley766!
- The color of the text in the text tool will now always be black when being edited. This allows the text always to be seen while editing, even if it's set to a lighter color. Thanks for reporting this, @oxy!
- The block grid now shows and hides properly in the level editor. Someone definitely brought this bug to my attention, but I can't remember who. Thank you, mystery person!
Technical Changes
- Player positions now update more frequently in levels. This accompanies the spectate mode change (in an effort to provide a smoother experience). If games become considerably slower, I will reduce the update rate back to what it was before.
Known Issues
- Spectating a rotating player causes them to disappear for a split second. This is due to a bug with the way player positions are updated after rotating.
- Spectate mode does not rotate with the player being spectated. I'll need to add functionality for this in a future version of PR2.
ICYMI
- JV got a Facebook! Find all of our socials here.
EDIT: PR2 v168.0.1 fixes an issue that caused rotate blocks not to work properly. Thanks for the report, @Atari4600!
It's Motley Monday!

I know the title of this thread seems a little cliche, but it's worth it, trust me. Have you ever stopped to wonder what it would be like to have a SUPERNATURAL ability that at least 90% of people living on planet earth, don't have? I'm sure by now, you've seen most of all the Marvel movies, DC comics, Dark Horse Comics, & probably thought... 'mmm, this would be really badass to have this SUPERPOWER in real life.'
Think about your childhood when you were just a little boy or girl. When we're kids, our SUBCONSCIOUS minds absorb all the things that we see in the movies and comic books, thinking this would be pretty cool to have IRL, to impress our friends and family. But let's be honest... when we become adults, we literally look at it as a way of life; a way to solve problems that are currently occurring in our lives.
I'll give you an example: Suppose you get into a situation in life, where you have to give a speech in front of thousands of people and all of a sudden your ANXIETY just runs right through the roof! This whole time you're probably thinking, 'damn it, I wish I could just get through this without feeling so apprehensive!' When you're ANXIETY kicks in, you're going to forget at least 75-80% of your speech, along with a high pitched voice to accommodate your ANXIETY.
Don't you just wish you had NERVES OF STEEL to help you get through this speech that you have to give in front of thousands of people?
I know, it's boring as hell being human, right? But at the same time, it would be cool to have this SUPERPOWER, not because we as adults think that it's cool, but because it's a way of life. Yes, it's an advantage over other people (which may not necessarily be fair), but it's still a way of life; it's a way to solve our problems for our own selfish needs.
We all wanna run as fast as FLASH, swing around like SPIDERMAN, or hell even fly and shoot lasers like SUPERMAN. But the fact that we're only human and we're limited to only 5 senses at birth, is just preposterous.
You may not believe in SUPERHUMAN powers, until you see it happen before your very eyes. I'm going to drop a site that covers a whole list of SUPERHUMAN powers, at the bottom of this thread. If you have a better site, then please don't hesitate to share it with me. In the meantime, what SUPERPOWER do you wish you could have, right now?
In the poll, you'll get a common list of popular choices, but if there's something that you like that isn't up there, please share it with me below! Some of these SUPERPOWERS seem a little preposterous because they're impossible for HUMANS to have.

As we all know, George R. R. Martin is taking his sweet time writing the sixth installment of his Song of Ice and Fire book series. In fact, it's been more than 10 years since the previous book came out. There is still hope, but will he finish it before JV's 24?
What do you think will come first?

Story: They heard about your -$50,000 in the bank, debt situation and asked you to come to a "Tough Enough" event. They're offering you $250,000 to get your ass whooped by Bob Holly (aka Hardcore Holly). All you need to do is sit there and take an ass whoopin for 5 mins straight, and you're tough enough along with $250,000 in your pocket.
Rules: If you complain, even ONCE, the deal is off and NO ONE will pay for your medical bills. Also, you can't quit, fight back, or take a break. You must go for 5 BRUTAL minutes to see if you got what it takes. Also too, you must sign a legal agreement that states the rules that you must comply to, and that NO ONE is responsible for paying your medical bills, should you get injured pretty badly. Also, suing them is out of the question!
WARNING: You will suffer from a BLACK EYE, BUSTED LIP, BLOODY NOSE, a NECK INJURY, and possibly a CONCUSSION!
Skip to 1:30 to see the action!

Fake Music Full Album |

Hello everyone. I finally finished my second music album, Fake Music. This one features a variety of instrumental tracks of varying genres. Some of these genres include rock, electronic, hip-hop, metal, and jazz.
Listen to it from these links:

https://youtu.be/n6v-EWaRFl4
Soundcloud
https://soundcloud.com/jay-weed-96386078...d6baaf062c
Track Summary
1) All Time High
The album kicks off with a high-energy rock song. After struggling to find a solid guitar tone, I finally found one and immediately wrote a song with it. I didn't think too hard about structure or direction with this one. It just had to be loud and energetic.
2) Fake Music
The title track is very special to me. On my previous album, I had written very similar-sounding, happy, videogame-esque songs. With this album I wanted to go somewhere different: keep the fun elements of the previous album but fuse them with other genres. What resulted was this track, a mix of jazz, hip-hop beats, and happy videogame melodies. The title of the track, and album, are a satire on digital music production and how it's not perceived as being "real music". Maybe my third album will be called Real Music, who knows?
3) Gloss City
This one uses some nice electronic elements and beats. This is probably the best-sounding song on the album, which makes sense considering it was the most recent one. Fun song to write.
4) Maximum Overdrive
I absolutely love rock and metal, so this one came pretty natural to me. I went for a style of metal akin to the videogame Doom. When using these digital instruments, it's hard to get an organic tone. I was well-aware of this limitation while writing the album, and knew I had to make up for this shortcoming in other ways. The energy and songwriting really come through on Maximum Overdrive and I hope to do more songs like it in the future.
5) Turn the Lights Off
Intended as a hip-hop song, Turn the Lights Off showcases my instrument of choice, the piano. I didn't grow up listening to hip-hop, so I came at it with a different angle. The interplay of pianos, acoustic strings, and electric guitars comes together nicely. That being said, I'm not sure if anyone would be willing to rap over this...
6) Strawberry Sunshine
Math rock is one of my favorite sub-genres and Dance Gavin Dance in one of my favorite bands. This song was a homage to the band's style, which combines math rock with elements of hardcore punk and pop. When I wrote this, I was still struggling to find the right guitar tone. This lead to some sound limitations, especially when expressing the complexity of the guitar leads. There are actually two versions of this song, both of which are on my Soundcloud page: https://soundcloud.com/jay-weed-963860783
7) Falling (with style)
Having grown up playing piano, I absolutely loved writing this track. The backstory is that I like doing piano improvisation, and one day I was playing around with Jazz chords. I recorded myself playing a particular set of chords followed up an uppity-Elton John inspired section, and it became Falling (with style). This was my first time writing in this way and hopefully it's not my last.
8) Nightrider
Jazz is daunting: the chord progressions, the accidentals, the number of instruments. I really don't know how I pulled this one off given I don't have a background in jazz. Nightrider is by far the longest track at over 7 minutes and incorporates more instruments than I had ever used before. It's amazing that we can write for so many instruments using only a computer and a free program.
