  Slopes

'nuff said. 45 degrees only could be good, but you could have a variety of different grades.

It would make sense for the only blocks to be "slopified" are the basic blocks. Might have to change the way tiles are handled to make it look more clean.

Bonus points if you include a Mario-esque buttslide mechanic. This might be too much, though; how the game might improve on the movement is up to Jiggmin.

  Physics-Based Movement
Posted by: Delphinoid_ - 7th May 2024, 6:54 PM - Forum: PR4 Suggestions - No Replies

I think it would be cool if player physics were more "physical" than in PR2 (either via manual implementation or by building the player controller on top of a 2D rigid body, for instance). Although it felt a bit sluggish with base stats, in my opinion PR3 had a really fun sense of momentum with stuff like bounce blocks, mines, angel wings, etc., and I'd love to see this direction developed further with more dynamic and interesting movement in PR4. This could also open up a whole world of possibilities for cool gameplay elements that weren't possible in previous PR games.

Change some blocks to use a simpler style
Posted by: Camer the Dragon - 7th May 2024, 6:28 PM - Forum: PR4 Suggestions - No Replies

Some of the blocks I feel are a bit too detailed compared to other blocks. The main blocks I feel this with are:
Happy Block, Sad Block, Mine, Crumble

Alien egg is creepy but depending on what's been gone for with it, it could work well

  COMMON SENSE

Genes, chromosomes, and DNA. All these things are predetermined before our birthdate by God. Before birth, we do not get to decide who are parents are, our physical appearance, our gender, our ethnicity, our blood type, or our personality traits. So if any of you are at a major disadvantage from any of these things saying, "I hate myself!"... then you're forced to suck it up and play your hand differently if you're unsatisfied with who you are. Complaining about a situation isn't going to solve the enigma. But, doing something about it could make a difference in your life.

Life is full of adversities and uncertainties. So what scares the hell outta people is that life really isn't fair. You have been instructed by God to deal with things that are predetermined and inevitable. Death is inevitable; we are not immortal. Old age is inevitable; we cannot remain young forever. The end of days is inevitable; the universe will come to an end someday. All of this is common knowledge applied across the global universe.

Pain is the greatest teacher of the universe (next to failure). It teaches you that you either made a horrible mistake, or you decided to go down a dangerous route in your life that you weren't prepared for. Common sense says that pain is our predetermined teacher. In this universe, it is inevitable and predetermined that you will bleed, suffer, and fail. Before we learn something new, we are all students in the game who are ignoramuses. Now what the hell does that mean? It means that one day, you will all do something foolish no matter what age you are. Nobody is that disciplined, and none of us have infinite knowledge and wisdom like God does.

It's inevitable that you will not know better and end up experiencing embarrassment sooner or later. So don't stress over perfection because it does not exist beyond the 99.9%. Even if you take up a skill or a trade, and you gain the experience... you will end up making a mistake at least 1-5% of the time. On top of that, there's always something new to learn.

There's something special about everybody. Some of us can do things that others can't do. If you don't fit into a certain puzzle that you're not cut out for, then figure out where you do fit in life. Otherwise you'll end up squandering your life living vicariously through the dark shadows of another man or woman who outranks you in nearly every aspect of life. Deep down, we've all displayed a jaundice attitude towards another individual because they can do things that we cannot.

For instance, you might see someone who's more athletic than you in Football and Basketball. Because they exhibit an impressive display of athleticism, they're able to gravitate towards obstacles in the game that are far too challenging for the average person to handle. Everybody can't throw a ball and take a bump in Football, and everyone can't have sic handles and dunk in Basketball. Sure, you can learn, but it'll take a while whereas others will pick it up quickly because they're a natural at it.

How about this - Everyone can't have a cast-iron stomach. I'm sure you'd like the ability to eat anything and everything you want without feeling bloated, constipated, having a swollen throat, or experiencing acid reflux. None of these things are pleasant, I get it. However, you need to figure out what does work for you because everybody is not the same.

So don't squander your time trying to conquer the inevitable and things that are predetermined because it is a colossal waste of your time. We don't get to start out as a wealthy and healthy individual... you need to earn those attributes in your life. You're working towards the highest card in the deck - the ace of spades. Some people are born with it in certain areas of life, and some people need to earn it because they're at a disadvantage. You can't conquer something that you don't understand. So if you spend your life trying to fit into a puzzle that wasn't meant for you, and you don't even know why you shouldn't be there, then you'll never prosper.

Video Description notes:
Note 1: Images are placeholders including the SAR backgrounds, they won't stay like that lol
Note 2: Not all systems/etc. shown in the video are final (e.g. settings menu will change)
Note 3: Some things shown may not be added due to errors (the thing where you can see the blocks loading in is incredibly buggy if you try to close the window or go back, some of the time it will freeze badly)

  ?GEN Z WORKERS ?
Posted by: Different - 1st May 2024, 12:15 AM - Forum: Discussion Hall - Replies (7)

I came across an interesting article talking about how employers refuse to hire Gen Z candidates from ages 12-27 (1997-2012). There are many more out there, but I figured I'd choose this one and gather you guys' thoughts and perspectives on this because most of you are Gen Zs. Do you find this article offensive, stereotypical, discriminatory, or what?

Mainly, they argue that Gen Z's are lackadaisical job drifters who demand more money than what they're qualified for. AGE seems to be a large factor here, and to me, it seems like they're making a determination about you guys potentially having a poor work-ethic and lack of experience based on your AGE alone. So basically, the skills and experience on your resume could be really impressive but will end up being overlooked and thrown into the trash based on your AGE alone.

While some employers disagree, others do not.

Key points from the article:

?"By scrutinizing education and work history timelines, employers may inadvertently introduce bias based on age, rather than focusing on the candidate's qualifications and suitability for the role."

?"Gen Zers, who are between the ages of 12 and 27, often don't have many ways around this obstacle."

?"Nearly 80 percent of hiring managers said they worried about Gen Z's lack of experience as a younger generation."

?"58 percent were worried about the generation's unprofessional attitude, and 63 percent expressed concern that they were known to job hop."

?"In the survey of 1,000 hiring managers, 42 percent admitted to considering age when reviewing applications. On both sides of the equation, being Gen Z or being a senior could cause your resume to be thrown into the trash."

So yeah, I'd love to hear what you guys (Gen Z's) think about this article because it seems to drive a large wedge between your chances of getting hired by employers (who are probably old heads). A lot of the old heads seem to think that people under 30 are just kids who have bad attitudes and don't want to work because they're lackadaisical job drifters. If you guys find that offensive, speak up and tell us why.

Don't hold anything back, and please don't shoot the messenger here. I'm just telling you all what I know and what I hear often. I'm going to listen to what you guys have to say and try to remain unbiased here.
